I was tagged by Books and Strips and as usual, book tags remind me that I need to read more :(. Hopefully, this tag will inspire me to read a lot this Christmas.

1. Do you have a favorite winter read?
8520610
Not exactly a winter read, but I found a book that comforts me at the end of the year when everybody is dying to party. I’m an introvert and there was a time when I really felt ashamed for being one. But it is this book that made me accept myself. You are not weird and abnormal if you want to spend time reading a book instead of going to a party.

 2. Find a book with blue on the cover

I read this long time back. It’s about this woman who seems to have everything on the surface but is actually quite suicidal. Not an outstanding book but a good one if you are traveling and want a quick read.
3. Find a book you’d pick as the star on a Christmas tree
wayofthepeacefulwarrior
Because we need peace, right? This book is about a young college student who goes on a journey of self-discovery with a weird but wise old man. The guy gives a lot of ‘gyaan’ and it can be very boring but it has some interesting bits.
4. Pick one fictional character you’d take with you on a winter vacation.
Harry Haller from Hermann Hesse’s ‘Steppenwolf’
I was going to choose Jane Eyre but Harry NEEDS a vacation. Basically, he is an intellectual who doesn’t fit into the society. His problem is that he is too aware of the two natures of human beings: one is the animal nature and the other is the nature which makes us ask questions like “Who am I?”, “Where do we come from” etc. I think a break from this torture would do him good.
 5. Name one book on your Christmas wishlist this year.
zen-and-the-art-of-motorcycle-maintenance-pdf
It revolves around two people who go on a journey on their bikes. While one  has a very ‘romantic’ approach to life and doesn’t bother about learning how to repair the motorcycle, the other is very ‘practical’ and ‘rational’ and basically analyses every detail of the bike. The author tries to bring the two extreme viewpoints together.
6. What is your favorite holiday drink / treat and movie?
I don’t celebrate Christmas but we get chocolate cake from our neighbors 😛 :D. And I love to watch some funny movies with my family. Unfortunately, it is only when you grow up do you realize that the so called funny movies are actually misogynistic but  I will pick ‘Golmaal’ by Hrishikesh Mukherjee.
P.S. I skipped one question because I don’t read a lot of fiction. And I’m not tagging anybody but would love to read about what people read.
P.P.S: Please excuse the formatting..there’s something wrong with WordPress at my end.

  1. I know what you mean about reading more. I just watched this video on TED by Ann Morgan. She’s read a book from every country in the world and it makes me feel bad. Motorcycle maintenance sounds great. It keeps coming up everywhere but I never buy it. Is it a must read?
