I haven’t explored as much of CSP as I should have but most of the songs that I have listened to, have been really good. The thing about CSP is that you will miss out on the magic if you don’t watch the video. The way the artistes perform, their expressions..it’s all a collective experience. Even though I listen to some of the CSP songs just as an audio, I find it difficult to enjoy them without the video and even if I enjoy the audio, it’s because I remember what the artistes were doing in the video! Here are some of the songs that I really liked:
1. Na Raindee Hai by Arieb Azhar
This guy’s voice and intensity will move you. And the lyrics are hard-hitting as well. Also try this song called ‘Husn-e- Haqiqi’ by the same guy.
2. Mori Araj Suno by Tina Sani
This song is a woman’s plea to God or whoever who is out there in the universe. It can make you cry. Also try ‘Nawai Ney’ by the same singer.
3. Charkha Nolakha by Atif Aslam and Qayaas
I hate Atif Aslam’s voice but thanks to CSP for this one! This song has been criticized by many because of Qayaas’s ‘rockstar’ type of singing. But why does every song have to be the same?
4. Aik Alif by Noori & Saieen Zahoor
This is written by Bulleh Shah. Part of the lyrics is something like this:
“You read so many books to know it all,
yet fail to ever read your heart at all.
You rush to holy shrines to play a part,
Would you dare enter the shrine of your heart”
You are quick to attack the evil one,
yet you’ve never fought your own ego
You grab for a star you can control,
yet fail to grasp the light in your soul.”
6. Saari Raat by Noori
If you are one of those people who have certain perception about Pakistan as a country then I request you to listen to this song. It will change the way you look at the country and also, you will question your perceptions about everything in this world.
If you are a CSP fan, then let me know which songs you like.
